Meet Our Featured Speaker:Hasan Rafiq
Hasan Rafiq is the VP – Organizational Development Center of Excellence at Newsela.
Hasan brings over 15 years of global experience in Diversity, Equity, Inclusion, and Belonging (DEIB), learning and organizational development, Human Resources (HR) transformation, and leadership development. He has a deep commitment to innovation and has built systems and tools that drive greater equity within organizations. For this work, he was awarded the 2019 DEI Innovator of Year award by Great Places to Work.
Hasan has a track record of building systems of equity within organizations and leads with DEIB as the center of the employee engagement and development strategy. Prior to Newsela, Hasan served as the Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion Leader for the COO at Meta. During his tenure, he led the Coaching for Inclusion program to accelerate the global team’s inclusive leadership capability and led the design of pilot experiences for product teams and leaders to understand the power of design thinking and incorporate inclusion into product design.
Prior to Meta, Hasan worked his way up through HR functions at Ernst & Young (EY) before moving into DEIB-focused global leadership roles and ultimately serving three years as the Diversity Inclusion and Belonging Leader for the US. In this role, his work impacted 15K+ employees across 29 offices. In his earlier role at EY, as Head of Diversity and Inclusion for Middle East North Africa (6000+ people, 200+ nationalities), he launched EY’s first Women’s Professional Network in the region. He also led the design and global deployment of HR Business Partner inclusion development training to accelerate inclusion and bias mitigation in talent processes.
Hasan is a Professional Certified Coach and is the founder of Coaching for Inclusion practice for C-suite executives and senior leaders.
